Sharon Smith
I'm Sharon, 56 and owner of WornKnots in Cheshire. UK.
I'm a creative, empathic, spiritual intuitive nature and animal lover. A massive cat lover.
I've had a lot of jobs over the years. Very varied from an Aupair 30 years ago in Italy to an intuitive angel card reader and a full time charity store manager before becoming unwell......
In 2020 I started to feel out of sync. I was working full time and on my feet all day. Something didn't feel right. I went for a scan and I was told I had a fair sized fibroid growing inside my womb. Fibroids are hereditary in my family and my mum ( God rest her soul - passed in 1998 ) needed a hysterectomy when she was 42. I too was told I needed a hysterectomy at 51 ( but I welcomed this. It was time. I have a 21 year old son ) so, they tried to shrink the fibroid down in the months leading up to the op to make the op easier. However, in the summer of 2021 I attended the pre op. They told me I had an under active thyroid and that it may affect the operation! I was to start on medication straight away. They went ahead with the operation the following week but I was in theatre for several hours. The fibroid hadn't shrunk and it took 3 surgeons to remove it. I had a radical hysterectomy that day. I lost so much blood I needed a blood transfusion and had to stay in ICU for a week to recover.
It took 3 months to recover before I returned back to work part time and I stepped down as manager to a supervisory role instead. I found myself physically struggling and drained and after being diagnosed with hip bursitis in May 2022 I left my job in June 2022.
Since then and I've struggled physically, mentally and spiritually.
I do call myself a bit of a hermit now... I'm a spiritual person and every now and then I need to take time out to recharge. Either at home or in nature. I meditate. Listen to music and try to go for walks, if I can.
I have high functioning anxiety and PTSD and this year was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.
Every day is a challenge but I've found amongst other hobbies - Paracord to be very therapeutic for me. Both for mind and soul. I love creating with it and have ideas in the pipeline.
