Devote 52 Weeks with Alicia McKay

I began my joy for writing at an early age. In April 1995 I was first published in the National Library of Poetry’s, Garden of Life poetry anthology. Since then, I continue to provide free lance writing for multiple companies and organizations across the globe. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, I have always envisioned a better world for my community and my family. I have been involved in a number of activities and community volunteer efforts, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity and the Detroit Coalition on Temporary Shelter. I also enjoy giving back through mentoring opportunities organized by Winning Futures and Matrix Human Services. Spring of 2005, I graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. In 2006, I traveled to South Africa to work as an intern and study law through Howard University School of Law at the University of the Western Cape Law School. August of 2010, I obtained a Master of Science in Higher Education with a concentration in leadership and administration. I am currently a board member for non-profit organizations, including The Literacy Project and New Ability Wellness Center. I also travel the country speaking to small and large audiences on many different topics from a Christian woman's perspective. My priorities include studying God's word, praising his holy name, being a light, and tending to my most important ministry: My Family.
